Before and After
Before and After: Why pictures are important
Taking before and after pictures when having a cosmetic surgery can be very important, especially in combating depression and dissatisfaction during the recovery period. Through these pictures it is easier to see the progress you are making, and the condition you started in.
Pictures should be taken both of your full body and of the area which has been surgically altered, from multiple angles So, for example, after a tummy tuck you would take pictures both of your full body, and of the area between your bust and thighs, from both the front and from the side.
Take your “before picture” the day of surgery. Some people get before pictures both with and without the doctors surgical markings. Most doctors suggest taking your first after pictures about a week after plastic surgery, and then once a month for the first 6 months to a year. Take these pictures in underwear and a bra, or in a bikini as well as taking them fully clothed.
Cosmetic Surgery Before and After Photos
As much as you may not like the idea of these pictures lying around, they can be instrumental in your recovery. It is important in the hardest days after cosmetic surgery to be able to reflect back on a physical reminder of why you had it done. It is easiest to remember the dissatisfaction that lead you to this point if there is evidence of what you looked like before. It is also the most effective way for you to compare the old you with the new you.
Photographs document each step in the road to recovery, and create a paper trail to your success. It is the only way that you can objectively view the minor changes that are happening in your body and the dramatic change they are making in your overall appearance. It also clarifies that things you may see as major issues, like scaring or dimpling, are less visible than you fear they are. In fact these flaws may not even show up on film.
Be a witness to your own success, and document it through before and after photos. When you have reached your goal you won’t regret being able to look back on the road that got you there.
